Our Ministries why?
The United Methodist- believe Jesus gave a mission to His followers such as spreading the gospel, making disciples, and showing God’s love. Ministries help organize this work (e.g., teaching, outreach, evangelism).
People inour church and in the surrounding community have many needs—spiritual, emotional, and practical. Our Ministries allow our church to meet those needs effectively.
Christians believe that God gives everyone unique gifts (teaching, helping, leadership, music, etc.). Ministries give people a place to use, develop, and share those gifts.
Ministries create smaller groups within the church where relationships can grow.
Our church has many responsibilities—worship, teaching, outreach, administration, care for members, etc. Ministries help divide these tasks so they are done well and consistently.
Church ministries often focus on providing care, such as:
Prayer teams
Counseling or support groups
Visitation for the sick or elderly
These help ensure no one is overlooked.
Our Ministries offer opportunities for leadership, training, and growth within the church.
UWF serves as the official, organized community for women within The United Methodist Church, implementing mission work. We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education so that we can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.
We are a powerful, fearless force driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood. With a focus on women, children and youth, we act for justice and transform communities.
We face the realities we see in the world, even when they are not the ones we would like to see. However, our goal is not to bear witness simply to harms but also to God’s love by acting boldly to change those harms.
Bold action, like faith, takes courage. Our bravery is inspired by God’s love and our powerful commitment to improve the lives of women, children and youth. United Women in Faith works for justice through compassionate service and advocacy to change unfair policies and systems that harm women, children and youth—from racial and gender injustice to economic inequality, climate issues and more.
The General Commission on United Methodist Men (UMMen) involves men in a growing relationship to Jesus Christ and his church and provides resources and support for programs of evangelism, stewardship and the needs of men. United Methodist Men leads the church’s scouting ministry (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire), encourages participation in several programs serving at-risk youth and advocates for and supports men seeking to prevent domestic violence.
